Accessibility

We want everyone to be able to find our milk, read about it and get in touch with us, including people who use a screen reader, a keyboard, magnification, captions or other assistive technology.

The standard we build to

This website is designed and tested against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium. We also follow the newer WCAG 2.2 Level AA requirements where they apply.

What that means on this site

  • Every page can be used with a keyboard alone, with a visible outline showing where you are and a “Skip to content” link at the top.
  • Images that carry information have text descriptions; decorative ones are hidden from screen readers.
  • Text and form fields meet the contrast requirements, and pages can be zoomed to 200% or read on a phone without losing content.
  • Moving decoration, such as the scrolling reviews and the waves, can be stopped with the “Pause animations” button at the foot of every page. If your device is set to reduce motion, the site stops it for you.
  • Forms have labels, say which fields are required, and announce whether a message was sent.
  • Nutrition facts for every product are available as text on the site, not only as printable PDFs.
  • Every store on the map is also listed as text beside it, with its address and a directions link.

Known limitations

  • The store map itself is drawn from OpenStreetMap map images, which a screen reader cannot describe. The store list next to it has the same information.
  • The printable nutrition labels are PDF files. The same facts are in each product’s Nutrition Facts panel on Our Milk.
  • Links to other websites, such as Google Maps, Instagram and Facebook, go to services we do not control.

Tell us if something doesn’t work

If any part of this site is hard to use, or you would like information in another format, please get in touch. Tell us the page and what happened, and we will help you directly and work on a fix.
